I will be the first to admit I was not a Bruno Mars fan. Until his Pepsi Super Bowl XLVIII Halftime Show performance last night, I thought of him as boring and pretty much put him in the friend zone (he totally looks like that guy). But Bruno Mars had something to prove after people like me doubted he could put on anything close to an electrifying show following Beyonce’s lights out performance last year. Lawd, did he prove me and naysayers wrong!
Bruno didn’t rely on gimmicks to command our attention, when the beat dropped for the first song of his set, “Locked Out of Heaven,” raw talent captivated us and kept us locked until the very last note of his hit song “Just The Way You Are.”
Bruno blasted away at his drums as he soared through the MetLife Stadium leaving the impression that one strike to his percussion instrument and the top of his drum stick would go flying into the air. When Bruno hit the stage, he was full of energy and dance moves. To top off his stellar performance, he called out some guests (no, not scantily clad women) but the Red Hot Chilli Peppers! Bruno ended his show belting out an impressive live version of “Just The Way You Are.”
We still think Beyonce had the best Super Bowl performance of ALL time, but Bruno is definitely second! Celebs took to Twitter to praise Bruno’s performance, peep their reactions:
