Dwyane Wade may be a three-time NBA champion and Olympic gold medalist, but his life is about more than just basketball. In his book A Father First: How My Life Became Bigger Than Basketball, the 31-year-old superstar says his most important job is being a dad, and now he’s ready to show that side of life on TV screens across America.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Fox is adapting his New York Times best seller into a half-hour comedy series. Tiled “Three the Hard Way,” the upcoming sitcom will follow “Daryl Wade and his entourage of eccentric friends who find themselves parenting by committee after he gets full custody of his two young sons. It’s a recipe made for disaster but no matter how misinformed, misguided or unfit Team Wade may be, they have a trump card that can’t be cut lose: love.”
During a recent interview with TSN, the father of two said he will “be very involved” with the show’s development.
“I will be involved,” Wade said before revealing he has yet to cast the lead character . “Haven’t figured that out yet…But I’m sure it’ll be somebody very handsome.”
“Burn Notice’s” Ben Watkins is set to write and executive produce the family-friendly comedy for Wade’s new ZZ Productions banner.
Sources say “Three the Hard Way” has been in development since late 2012. A tentative premiere date has yet to be set.
