An Atlanta man has shattered the “Cannonball Run” record by racing from New York to Los Angeles in under 30 hours.

Lamborghini Atlanta employee Ed Bolian made it from N.Y. to L.A. in 28 hours and 50 minutes, breaking the previous record of 31 hours and 4 minutes, set in 2006.

The 1981 Burt Reynolds classic film “Cannonball Run” was a comedic twist on a real-life underground and illegal race from coast-to-coast. Bolian made the trek in a tricked out Mercedes CL55 AMG that was equipped with two extra gas tanks, two laser jammers, three radar detectors, two GPS units and no rear lights.

Bolian, a Georgia Tech graduate, averaged 98 mph during the trip and topped out at 158 mph.
