According to TMZ, Former NFL superstar Hugh Douglas was just FIRED from ESPN upon reports he called his co-host an “Uncle Tom.”

Douglas, the former Philadelphia Eagles defensive sensation, was co-hosting ESPN’s “Numbers Never Lie” with Michael Smith.

But allegedly Douglas and Smith got into a heated altercation at the National Association of Black Journalists Convention in Orlando last Tuesday when Douglas reportedly called Smith, who is also black an Uncle Tom.

ESPN previously told media outlets they were “aware there was a disagreement” between the two men. However today ESPN fired Douglas from the network, effective immediately.

In a Tweet Douglas tweeted,

“I am very disappointed to be leaving ESPN and will have more to say about this situation and my future at the appropriate time.”

Interesting. We haven’t heard of too many African American’s getting in trouble for calling one another names such as “Uncle Tom”. We’re curious to see where this one goes. Guess we’ll just have to stay tuned.
