Celebrities and politicians came together again this weekend for this year’s star-studded White House Correspondents Dinner, hosted by late-night talk show and comedian Jimmy Kimmel.

No one was safe from President Obama’s hilarious barbs as he took aim at his general election opponent Mitt Romney, Donald Trump, this year’s primaries, the 2008 primaries, the General Services Administration scandal, and even the Secret Service.

The jokes began with President Obama’s entrance. The president walked off stage just before he took the podium with an alleged “hot mic,” apparently making fun of getting caught last month on an open microphone with Russian President Dmitry Medvedev.

“What am I doing here,” he asked off stage as the audience laughed. “I’m opening for Jimmy Kimmel and telling knock-knock jokes to Kim Kardashian.”

Once he took the stage, President Obama referenced last year’s dinner, where he spoke just hours after secretly giving the order to kill Osama bin Laden by sending a team of Navy SEALS into Pakistan.

“Last year at this time, this very weekend, we finally delivered justice to one of the world’s most notorious individuals,” Obama said.

Instead, a picture of Trump appeared on the room’s television monitors.

Towards the end of his speech, President Obama remembered The New York Times’ Anthony Shadid and Marie Colvin of the Sunday Times of London who died while covering the uprising in Syria.

“Never forget that our country depends on you to help protect our freedom, our democracy and our way of life,” Obama said.

Among those who attended Saturday night’s dinner were former Secretary of State Colin Powell, the cast of the hit TV show “Modern Family,” singer John Legend, actors George Clooney, Kevin Spacey and Sigourney Weaver, and director Steven Spielberg.

Proceeds from the dinner go toward scholarships for aspiring journalists and awards for distinction in the profession.
