The Atlanta Branch NAACP was founded 1917 by James Weldon Johnson. It has been a true beacon of light for the African American Community in Atlanta. First during the Atlanta riots of the early 20th century and then the years to follow to include the Civil Rights Era; voter registration & education has been and will always a vital part of the NAACP. NAACP Atlanta’s push is to encourage the community make their voices heard.
