Winnie Mandela says she won’t support the biopic of her life starring ESSENCE Music Festival headliner Jennifer Hudson. The South African activist, and Nelson Mandela’s ex-wife, is appalled that she was never consulted for the yet-to-be-released movie.

Mandela says that her lack of support isn’t against J-Hud. “I have absolutely nothing against Jennifer, but I have everything against the movie itself,” she told CNN.

“I am still alive and I think it is total disrespect to come to South Africa, make a movie about my struggle and call that movie some translation of a romantic life of Winnie Mandela. I think it is an insult.”

A rep for Hudson said that she would have loved to meet with Mandela, but no meeting was arranged due to the orders of the producers, who thought it was “a bad idea.”
