Michael Jackson To Be Resurrected For New Pepsi Campaign

The makers of Pepsi have signed a deal with Michael Jackson’s estate, which will allow them to use images of the late King of Pop for a global marking campaign.

According to the Wall Street Journal, the nature of the promotion will vary by country, but will include a TV commercial, special-edition Pepsi cans featuring Jackson’s image, and chances to download remixes of his biggest hits.

The Jackson Brothers Hit the Road for Unity Tour 2012

Four of the Jackson brothers — Marlon (pictured from left), Tito, Jackie, and Jermaine — plan on hitting 27 cities this summer on their “Unity Tour 2012.” The trek will kick off June 18th in Louisville, Ky., and wrap up July 29 in Snoqualmie, Wash., reports the Chicago Sun-Times. They roll into Atlanta on July 8.

The tour will mark the first time the brothers have toured together since their 1984 famed “Victory Tour,” which included Michael and youngest brother, Randy.

The brothers, who were formally known as the Jackson 5 when Michael was onboard, were a musical R&B force to be reckoned with. They were one of the first Black teen idols to appeal to both Black and White audiences equally. The group cranked out hit after hit during a heyday that lasted more than three decades, starting in the mid-sixties. The Jackson 5 also launched solo careers for Jermaine and Michael.

The Jackson brothers have never formally broken up as a group and have remained relatively dormant as far as performing over the years. The brothers displayed their passionate desire to perform on stage again on their defunct A&E reality show “The Jacksons: A Family Dynasty.”

The Jacksons plan on giving their audiences some of their greatest Jackson 5 hits, as well as doing a tribute to Michael.

“There’s nothing like having all the brothers on stage at the same time,” Jackie Jackson said in a statement. “This will be exciting for our fans around the world — and I know at each concert, MJ’s spirit will be in the house with us.”

Michael Jackson’s pop-culture defining Thriller music video helped usher in MTV era of music yet the song itself isn’t even among his top 50 Billboard charting hits, according to Billboard. Below we list Jackson’s best charting hits of his almost mystical music career as determined by Billboard. The selections aren’t as obvious as it may seem. His collaborations with former Beatle Paul McCartney have generated the most chart success for Jackson.

The widely-coined “King of Pop” is recognized as one of most successful entertainers of all time. Debuting in the music spotlight in 1964 as the front man and youngest sibling of Motown’s popular boy group the Jackson 5 before kicking off a solo career in 1971. Jackson became a transformative figure within music and pop culture with the release of his 1982 Thriller album and its supporting videos, which not only spawned the 14-minute horror cinematic opus that was the “Thriller” video but also MTV defining hits for chart toppers like “Billie Jean” and “Beat It”. Thriller would go on to be recognized as the greatest-selling album of all-time with over 100 million copies of the album sold, but Jackson, while still amassing a dizzying amount of fame as a performer (he’s garnered countless awards and has sold more than 750 million albums worldwide from Thriller and his other solo projects including Off the Wall (1979), Bad (1987), Dangerous (1991), and HIStory (1995)) also became as much of a caricatured celebrity for the bizzare headlines was linked to.

10. The Girl Is Mine (1982)

“A duet with McCartney, the song was released in October 1982 and quickly debuted on the Hot 100 at No. 45, eventually rising to No. 2. “The Girl Is Mine” also famously kicked off an incredible run of hits from the “Thriller” album.”

6. Dancing Machine (1974)

3. I’ll Be There (1970)

2. Billie Jean (1982)

Billboard: “”Billie Jean” propelled the singer to a true worldwide sensation. With seven weeks at No. 1, the song introduced the “Thriller” album to the masses.”

1. Say Say Say (1983)

Billboard: “At six weeks, “Say” marks Jackson’s second-longest reign at No. 1 on the Hot 100. While “Billie Jean” spent one more week at No. 1 and two more weeks on the Hot 100 than “Say Say Say,” Jackson’s collaboration with McCartney spent more weeks in the top 10 (13 to 11), the top 20 (16 to 12), and the top 40 (18 to 17) than “Jean” did, making it his all-time biggest hit on the Billboard charts.”

Conrad Murray Prisonmates With Janet Jackson’s Ex-Husband!

Just when Conrad Murray thought his life couldn’t get any worse, it does. Out of the 4,000 male prisoners in the L.A. County jail, Murray got placed in a cell with Janet Jackson’s first husband, James DeBarge.

DeBarge is known from the popular 80s family group, DeBarge. He was arrested for drug charges and assault with a deadly weapon. DeBarge was placed in Administrative Segregation, which is where inmates are housed who are famous or have security problems. Murray has been staying in the Administrative Segregation block since being convicted of manslaughter in connection with Michael Jackson’s death in November.

According to TMZ, the two run into each other randomly. DeBarge and Murray recently ran into one another when meeting with their respective lawyers. DeBarge’s attorney, Spencer Vodnoy says Janet’s ex-husband is very upset residing in the same block with the man who was involved in the death of Michael Jackson. Although Janet and DeBarge were married less than a year, he considered Michael Jackson family.

How about James DeBarge concentrate on staying clean and out of jail before worrying about Conrad Murray’s whereabouts?

Michael Jackson was honored with a hand-and-footprint ceremony at the famous Grauman’s Chinese Theatre in Hollywood yesterday and to pay tribute to the legend, Melanie Fiona sang an acoustic version of the Jackson 5 hit “I’ll Be There.”

Though she sang in a range higher than we’re used to hearing, she hit every note as Michael’s mother and children looked on.

She later Tweeted, “I am at a complete loss of words. Overwhelmed and completely honoured. Cheers to the King of Pop #MichaelJackson xo”
