The car of Stacey English, a missing Atlanta woman has been found, but police have yet to divulge whether foul play was involved in the case.

Thirty-six-year-old Stacey Nicole English went missing on or about Christmas Day after a gathering at her family’s house.

After the gathering, she went back to her home in Buckhead, where she met a male friend from Missouri. They reportedly got into an argument, he left and she hasn’t been seen since. That person has now gone back to Missouri but is a person of interest. All of English’s valuables were found inside the home, with no sign of foul play.

Atlanta Police say they done suspect foul play. However, she was supposed to return to work January 3rd and her employer has not heard from her. Stacey’s family says that this is totally out of character for her.

A $5,000 reward has been offered for any information that helps locate English. People can call Atlanta Crime Stoppers, 404-577-8477.

Rumors spread fast Friday evening saying that T.I. was arrested leaving NYC, allegedly for having weed on him. Our sister station Hot 107.9 and IAmGWoods teamed up to get to the bottom of it. According to a U.S. Census Bureau report, Atlanta had the highest income inequality rate in the country from 2005 to 2009, just ahead of New Orleans, Washington, D.C., and Miami.

The widening gap between the rich and poor in Atlanta is driven by high unemployment in an economy that is creating few jobs and gentrification — new, expensive housing which has put wealth and poverty in the same neighborhoods, reports the AJC. But the numbers are skewed by tens of thousands of college students within the city’s limits, who often have no income.

Metro Atlanta’s sprawling suburbs fared far differently than the city of Atlanta. The metro area had lower income inequality than the nationwide average of metro areas during the five-year period. New York, Miami, Los Angeles, Houston and Memphis ranked as the top five metro areas highest in income inequality.

The wealth gap in America has been at the core of the Occupy Wall Street movement that started in New York and spread to Atlanta and several other cities in the U.S. and around the world.

Taking a handicapped parking spot can cause a woman to go into attack mode, as Usher learned recently in Atlanta.

Usher was at this weekend’s Halloween parade in Little Five Points when a woman apparently took issue with the ATL singer parking in a a handicapped spot.

The cool thing about his body of work is he blends all the aforementioned styles effortlessly. The Grammy Award winner took  some time away from his tour to speak with The Urban Daily about why our readers should buy and/or download his new project, What Were You Hoping For?

Van Hunt shows you exactly who he is on this album.

Often times, artists sign major label deals and are taken aback when they realize the label wants them to be who they aren’t. When drama happens behind the scenes, the struggle between the two parties usually manifests itself in the music. Hunt delivers a self assured album where drama is used as a tool to enhance the overall sound of the album.

His last two efforts were underground classics.

In 2004, Van Hunt released his eponymous debut. Though it stalled at #38 on the R&B Albums chart. Critics and fans alike, praised the album. Steve Jones of USA Today said of Hunt’s debut, “Hunt’s sound may have a retro feel, but his sentiments do not. By not holding to R&B lyrical conventions, he succeeds in giving his songs a fresh twist.” The single, “Dust,” was nominated for the Best Urban/Alternative Performance Grammy in 2005.

His follow up, On The Jungle Floor, hit shelves in 2006. PopMatters’ Matt Cibula closed his review by saying, “At this point, it sounds like a bit of genius, a whole lot of fun, and the album I’m gonna be blasting all summer long.” His track record should at least pique some sort of curiosity in his work.

He considers What Were You Hoping For? the defining moment of his career.

During our conversation, Van Hunt expressed how much this project meant to him. “This album is a defining moment in my career because I got to do exactly what I wanted to do. That’s all an artist can ask for; to be put in a place where I can make the music that feels right to me and have it distributed to the fans exactly the way I envisioned it.”

Although he incorporates rock into his work, he’s a soul man.

When I asked him if he planned on ever doing a solely rock ‘n’ roll album, the Atlanta native communicated that’s not on the horizon for now. “I don’t think I could ever leave behind soul music. It’s the music I grew up with. As far as I’m concerned, classic soul and pop music is the purest form of music. I couldn’t abandon that, even only for one album.”

What Were You Hoping For? is a record to play from start to finish.

Van Hunt is one of those artists who makes  albums. He doesn’t record two or three hit singles and pad the rest of the disc with less than stellar filler tracks. This new set is a project where each song compliments the previous one. Though each track has its own personality, everything is cohesive. Hunt describes his album as a soundtrack to a long drive. “This album is what you need to pop into your ride and turn it up and just ride with it. When it’s on, don’t let anybody talk to you and don’t answer the phone. Just be with the music because you’re going to like it.”

This past Sunday on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” the rest of the country got a chance to see why Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed is considered an emerging leader in America.

Mayor Reed was part of a panel that included former White House Press Secretary Dee Dee Myers, Tea Party-backed Illinois Republican Congressman Bobby Schilling, MSNBC Political Analyst Mark Halperin, and New York Times Columnist David Brooks.

Mayor Reed said given the country’s budget deficit and cities strapped for cash, cities like Atlanta need to make tough decisions — like cutting pensions — and make them faster than in the past. He said it’s about doing the right thing and trying to be a model for other cities and governments.

Reed said comunication is key. The mayor said he had a conversation with President Obama more than six weeks ago and was told federal funding and federal support won’t be as plentiful in the years to come. He said it’s now up to the City of Atlanta to adjust to that reality.

Asked about the 2012 presidential election, Mayor Reed said if unemployment reached eight percent by then, President Obama stood a better chance of re-election.
