Strawberry Letter: Married in September Heading for Divorce in October

Hello Steve and Shirley,

I am in need of advice. I have only been married for 6 weeks as of 10/22/2011 and I feel that my marriage is headed for divorce. My husband seems to believe that I have cheated on him with his brother. I know that I have not cheated on him with ANYONE but he is convinced otherwise. I asked when this could have happened since we live 8 hrs away from his family.

He stated that it happened when we were visiting in April 2011 preparing for our wedding. He stated it happened when his brothers, his sisters, and I were dancing and drinking in the family living room. He stated that he entered the living room from another part of the family home and witnesswed his brother and I kissing. He stated that I was pushing his brother away from me and ran to him. Needless to say, I do not recall any of this happening neither does any of his family members that were there.

He didn’t say anything to us at the time that it happened; he waited until 2 days after the “incident” before we even talked about it. I laughed because I knew that it did not happen and I figured he was just getting cold feet. One week before we were to get married, he brought it up again and threatened to call off the wedding at the alter if I did not tell him the truth. I told him the truth, which was nothing happened. He appeared to believe me, yet convinced that I blacked out and it was his brother pursuing me. We got married and everything went perfect! The day was everything that I had patiently planned and waited for. The honeymoon stage was over quick!

We returned home since we were going to go on a honeymoon in Jan 2012. Literally 2 wks after the wedding he brought up the “incident” and that it was bothering him more than ever. Now there were other things added…I was looking at his brother more than usual during our visit for suit fittings and I was talking to him more too. NOW we are arguing about it on week 5 of our marriage and it has been a week.

I don’t know what to do. I don’t know how to save my marriage. When we talk it turns into an argument or a conversation if our marriage was right or if its even going to last. Can you give me a little advice?

Thanks,

Honeymoon is over.
