EVENT: 5th Annual Backpack In The Park Fundraiser

The 5th annual Backpack in the Park, a community picnic and back-to-school benefit event, seeks to top last year’s record when more than 1,600 backpacks, filled with school supplies and gift cards were collected.

This year, Backpack in the Park will be held on Sunday, Aug. 1 from 4 – 8pm at Piedmont Park. In addition to complimentary food and beverages, the family-friendly event will have fun activities for people of all ages. To attend, please bring a new unwrapped backpack filled with school supplies or a gift card valued at $30 or more.

I Dream is a musical drama based on the like of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. directed by Jasmine Guy, with music by Douglas Tappin, and produced by Cedric Perrier, Tim Bowen and Dej Mahoney. The musical stars Broadway actor Quentin Earl Darrington as Dr. King, and Demetria McKinney (House of Payne). The musical will be showing at Atlanta’s Woodruff Arts Center this July.
