Babineaux chooses organizations that provide assistance to Atlanta’s communities who have unique needs or experience hardship as well as to help raise awareness for the group’s fundraising or volunteer needs.

Hats off to him!

Let me start by saying this is not an indictment of a particular pastor. Everyone is innocent until proven guilty and it’s not my job or place to judge.  THIS IS a story about my encounter with someone who was a little bit overzealous about his bishop.

It’s Halloween. This is the A-T-L, so there are tons of costume parties going on all over town. I was at my usual spot on a Sunday evening holding it down with DJ Nabs. We had different people coming through the door with a variety of costumes.

“We’ve got the sexy police officer in the building! I see a sexy nurse! Foxy Brown is in the house!” You get the general idea.

Well…someone who was focused on winning the money up for grabs that night chose to come as a local pastor who’s been in the news lately — complete with the infamous outfit that was featured in pics across the country. He even had his cellphone out to complete “the look.” I acknowledged him AS THE CHARACTER he was portraying.

Well one gentleman in the place on the dancefloor (who was obviously a member of this church) became particularly indignant with me. No, let me rephrase that. He was heated!!! He started on this rant about how he was security for this pastor and that  he was going to see the pastor later on that evening and tell the pastor what went on!!

Now if all this were true…I had many questions (and I’m sure you do too):

1. If you’re his security … why are you here? Shouldn’t you be handling ….his security?!

2. It’s 11 p.m. at night and you state you’re going to see him later that evening!? Please refer to question 1.

3.  Why are you getting indignant with me …and not the GUY WHO ACTUALLY SHOWED UP DRESSED AS YOUR PASTOR?!!

4.  I’m going to tell my pastor on you!?? Really!? Where am I? Elementary school?

I tried to talk this guy off the ledge and eventually he relaxed….but he still obviously had a problem with the whole thing. As I said … this is not an indictment of a particular pastor..or a particular church. This is a statement that…if you are passionate about your pastor and your church … there is nothing wrong with that. Just don’t get ridiculous with it. You are at a costume party…chill.

And oh… by the way…that costume ended up taking 2nd place …that’s my Real A-T-L story for now.

It’s with our deepest sympathy that we inform you that Pastor Marvin Sapp’s wife MaLinda Sapp has passed on today after battling colon cancer.

An official press release has not been issued yet but more details will be coming on the Yolanda Adams Morning show tomorrow morning. The Yolanda Adams Morning Show can be heard on our sister station, Praise 102.5, from 6am to 10am.

Earlier this year, Marvin Sapp was testifying of how his wife, MaLinda, was given a clean bill of health by doctors after being diagnosed with Stage 4 Colon Cancer in 2009. But then, those health concerns resurfaced and Marvin Sapp requested intense, around-the-clock prayer.

Back in April of 2009 Marvin Sapp’s wife MaLinda went to the hospital after experiencing excruciating pain. At first, the two thought she likely had kidney stones. But according to Sapp, the doctors checked her and couldn’t find any stones.

In a recent interview he explained, “But the pain wouldn’t leave, so they did some tests and came back to the room and told us it was stage four colon cancer.”

Please keep Pastor Marvin Sapp and family in your prayers during this difficult time.

TMZ has learned Dr. Conrad Murray’s legal defense is that Michael Jackson gave himself the fatal dose of Propofol.

Multiple sources familiar with the strategy tell TMZ the defense argument goes like this:

- At around 10:50 AM, Dr. Murray gave Jackson 25 mg of Propofol from a 20 ml bottle — that’s only about 1/8 of the bottle.

- The dose Dr. Murray administered would keep someone asleep for only 5 to 10 minutes, But the Propofol, along with the Ativan and Versed that was already in MJ’s system, had a synergistic effect that put Jackson to sleep for a longer period of time.

- For the next hour, Dr. Murray stayed in the room and was on the phone for much of the time. Dr. Murray didn’t leave the room to make the calls because MJ liked activity in the room, regularly sleeping with the lights on and cartoons blaring on the TV.

- At around noon, Dr. Murray left the room for approximately two minutes to go to the bathroom. While he was gone, the defense believes Jackson suddenly awakened and was frustrated he had spent nearly 9 hours trying in vain to sleep. The defense theory — Jackson took the 20 ml bottle of Propofol and self-injected the remaining contents through the IV, causing a massive overdose that stopped his heart.

- Dr. Murray walked back in the room and saw Jackson with his eyes open and pupils dilated. Dr. Murray dropped the phone (he was speaking with his girlfriend) and began administering CPR.

The defense will argue Michael Jackson was a long-time Propofol addict — something TMZ first reported shortly after the singer’s death. As one source said, Jackson liked the sensation of Propofol being administered by IV, adding, “Michael liked to push it.”

According to the New York Daily News, sources say that there’s trouble behind the scenes of TNT’s hit medical series, “HawthoRNe,” and the sources say that it’s being caused by star Jada Pinkett Smith’s husband, Will Smith.

The cast, which also includes Michael Vartan, just returned to the set this week after an unplanned, eight-day hiatus – and although one source says it was because of an illness in the Smith’s family, another well-connected insider suggests it was imposed by the network to sort out all of the production’s complications.

The second snitch continues that TNT executives are blaming the show’s current issues on Smith – a co-producer on “HawthoRNe” – because he isn’t cooperating with the rest of the team.

“He is not currently shooting a movie, so he’s been a constant on the set in recent weeks,” the network source says. “He’s been inserting his input and requesting so many changes to the script that it pushed back the production schedule tremendously and caused everything to spiral out of control.”

Pinkett Smith plays a nurse on the hit show, which premiered last year to stellar ratings. But despite the first season’s success, the insider says her husband wants the dramatic scenes pushed to the limit – and he apparently submits pages of notes and rewrite requests to the show’s writers and producers each week.

A rep for TNT had “no comment” on the matter, and Smith’s flack said that this was “untrue.”

Nevertheless, the source insists: “Everyone is praying for him to book a new movie so that he will go away.”
