A grand jury in Ferguson, Missouri has decided not to indict police officer Darren Wilson in the shooting death of Michael Brown.
Brown, an unarmed black teenager, was shot and killed on August 9th by Wilson, a white police officer who claimed he acted in self-defense. Witness accounts of the incident differed, with many saying Wilson was the aggressor and other anonymous witnesses claiming that Brown assaulted Wilson and tried to grab his gun. Witnesses also said Brown ran and then turned back, with some witnesses saying Brown was trying to surrender and had his hands up.
Brown’s murder spawned months of unrest in Ferguson and let to protests around the country.
