President Obama appeared on CNN this morning, making a major statement about the government shutdown that’s been plaguing us for three days now. During his speech, Obama didn’t step lightly while criticizing the GOP. Obama let us know that the shutdown is the Republican party’s responsibility and there’s only one solution.

“There are enough Republicans and Democrats in the House of Representatives today that if the speaker of the House, John Boehner, simply let the bill get on the floor for an up or down vote, every congressman could vote their conscience, the shutdown would end today,” Obama said in a speech in Rockville, Maryland.

President Obama has had enough of this reckless shutdown and you could tell from his rhetorically offensive speech aimed directly at the Republican party.

Check out his best quotes from his all-too-real speech:

Obama Zeroes In & Blames Boehner

“The only thing that is keeping the government shut down, the only thing preventing people from going back to work, and basic research starting back up, and farmers and small business owners, getting their loans — the only thing that’s preventing all that from happening right now today, in the next five minutes, is that Speaker John Boehner won’t even let the bill get a yes or no vote because he doesn’t want to anger the extremists in his party.”

Obama Says Do Your Job!

“There will be no negotiations over this. The American people are not pawns in some political game. You don’t get to demand ransom in exchange for keeping the government running. You don’t get to demand ransom for doing your most basic job.”

Obama Wants Congress To Stop Being Stubborn & Realize Obamacare Is Happening

“Congress has to pass our budget with no partisan strings attached. This is not about spending or fiscal responsibility. It’s become about the Republican disbanding the Affordable Care Act. The government may be shutdown, but Obamacare is still open for business…They got exactly what they want, now they’re trying to figure out how to get out of it.”

Just In Case The GOP Doesn’t Get It, Obama Breaks It Down

“As reckless as a government shutdown is, an economic shut down that results from default will be dramatically worse. In a government shutdown, disability benefits still arrive on time, in an economic shut down, they don’t!”

Obama Loves Us

“I think the American people are so good and so decent that they should get better treatment from the government than this.”

Basically, this whole government shutdown is a standoff between the Republicans non-support of Obamacare and the Democrats’ support of it. However, some media outlets are starting to open up the conversation of color having an effect on the decision on the spending bill.

The Salon’s Joan Walsh is reporting, “A House minority from white districts want to destroy the first black president, and the GOP majority abets them.” This shutdown feels like a government tantrum. It’s like they’ve finally had enough of listening to the Black president, so they’re folding their arms and poking out their lips and refusing to budge.

What do you think? Is the shutdown a result of the government against Obamacare or against Obama? Let’s chat! @Rhapsodani!
