Celebrated Channel 2 anchor Monica Pearson will officially retire today when she conducts her final broadcast after 37 years on television.

Monica is passing the torch to Jovita Moore, who has been at WSB for 14 years.

At the time of her hiring, Monica was the first African-American female anchor in Atlanta, beating out Oprah Winfrey for the job. Monica and Oprah remain friends to this day.

In this exclusive interview, Monica and Jovita spoke to Majic 107.5 / 97.5’s Si Man about Monica’s past and future, as well as what the future holds for Jovita.

Monica plans to attend grad school in telecommunications at the University of Georgia and explore writing, acting and more.
