Former Bad Boy rapper G-Dep (real name Trevell Coleman) was convicted of second degree murder in the 1993 shooting death of John Henkel in Manhattan Court Tuesday.
During an attempted armed robbery almost twenty years ago, Coleman, then 18, shot 32-year-old John Henkel twice before fleeing the scene on his bicycle. Henkel later died of his injuries.
G-Dep confessed to the shooting in 2010 after turning himself in to authorities, but he claimed then that he did not know that his victim had died. After a five-day trial he was convicted and is facing a minimum of fifteen years in prison.
