In her first interview since Whitney Houston’s death, mother Cissy Houston told My9 TV that she did the best she could raising her daughter and she doesn’t blame herself for Whitney’s untimely death.

The interview took place at New Hope Baptist Church in Newark, N.J., where Whitney first wowed a congregation as a girl and where her funeral was held Feb. 18.

Here are some quotes from the interview:

On if she had any regrets about the way her daughter was raised: “I know I did the best I could. I don’t blame myself. I know I did the best I could for everything.”

On the media coverage Whitney’s death: “They think they know everything. These people don’t know anything about her. The media doesn’t know what they are talking about….Whitney did not die broke. She’s not broke. She’s not anything … None of that crap.”

On how she’s doing since her daughter’s death: “I have my moments … I’m not there yet. I am a true believer in God. There’s nothing I can do about it. There’s nothing nobody else can do about it. If I thought I could so something to bring her back, that’s exactly what I’d do, but I know that’s impossible.”

Cissy Houston says her daughter “accomplished a whole lot in the short time that she had here” and “was a very wonderful person.”

Whitney Houston’s death has been ruled an accidental drowning, with heart disease and cocaine use listed as contributing factors.
