Strawberry Letter: Am I In Denial?

Dear Steve & Shirley,

I have a huge problem with my marriage. I live on the East Coast and my husband lives on the West Coast (Van Nuys, CA). He couldn’t find a job in our city so he felt like going to the West Coast would be a better opportunity. Anyway, he’s been there for six years now. We see each other once a year which is Christmas, but we talk every day and night.

I’m retiring in June but my husband hasn’t asked me to come to California and live after I retire, nor has he mentioned coming back to live with me. My family thinks I’m a fool and my husband may have another family (at least another woman). I told him if he ever feels like he wants to dissolve our marriage or he wants another woman, tell me and I’ll walk away. I trust my husband and wish my family would leave me and my business alone.

Do you think I’m being a fool?
