Viola Davis continued her march to the Oscars by snagging a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance By A Female Actor In A Leading Role. Her co-star in The Help, Octavia Spencer won Best Supporting Actress.

Davis beat out Meryl Streep, Tilda Swinton, Glenn Close and Michelle Williams for her prize and the cast of The Help won Outstanding Performance By A Cast In A Motion Picture.
