Strawberry Letter: Paranoid or Not?

Dear Shirley & Steve,

I would greatly appreciate your opinion about my issue. Me & my kids father have been together for 8 years. He is not my 1st sons biological father but he was only 14 months old when we met and he stepped up to the plate and is definitely his father regardless of genetics. My issue is that I feel he should adopt him now and give him his last name. We also have a 5 year old. He does not treat them any differently but I feel it would be the right thing to do so our oldest son can feel complete. I also think adopting him will make things all the more smoother down the road when we tell him the truth about his sperm donor. I have brought the subject up to him a few times over this past year and he finally told me he didn’t feel it was necessary and that was the only reason I received. That answer is just not good enough and I am concerned. Should I be or am I just being paranoid? Should I not mention it again and give him more time to come around? I am afraid this will hurt our relationship if he doesn’t at least tell me the real truth about why he does not want to adopt our oldest son. Please help!

Thanks very much for your time & God Bless you all.
